NYT on Hirshhorn

The New York Times takes an interesting look at DC's Hirshhorn Museum.

Gorgeous image of the hangers installation is by DC's own Dan Steinhilber, one of the precious few DC area artists whom the museum has glanced at in recent memory; let's hope that the museum's new refocusing on its identity expands on that area and begins looking more into its own backyard.

What are you talking about? The Currents: Recent Acquisitions show features Iona R Brown, Mary Coble and a many other local artists. The board has been doing a great job. The Hirshhorn also has an amazing collection of work from the Washington Color School, Sam Gilliam, and more I believe work by Martin Puryear. You're a little off base.

Maybe... and it's a great re-direction if it stays... but look at the last 10 years' worth of programming and acquisitions, and then you'll see that the recent shift is (a) a GREAT development and (b) recent.

Just pushing all the time... gotta be a little off base to be able to get a lead on the pitcher...

I hate sport analogies but that one was out of the park.
