100 Washington Artists or DC artists?

Tomorrow I will release the list of the 100 DMV artists whom I have selected and handpicked for the art book "100 Washington Artists" that I am about to finish in a day or two. It will be released next Spring by Schiffer Books.

Question for the masses: Should the title be "100 Washington Artists" or "100 Washington, DC Artists" or "100 Washington, DC Area Artists"?

I vote for "100 Washington Artists." Screw the "other" Washington [state].

  2. Is it too late for "100 Washington Artists, plus 1 from Baltimore?"

  3. "100 Washington, DC Artists" otherwise it will be confused with Washington State.

    "Washington, DC Area artists"
Folks in VA and MD get voting rights that those of us in DC don't get. We have different politics, inspirations, issues, made different choices, and we have different area codes :) You all know it's very very different to live in Fairfax vs. Columbia Heights.

I strongly vote for "100 Washington DC Area Artists"

There's a big difference between the far reaching suburb dwellers and those who live in DC, pay DC taxes and live/breath the city every day.

    Just my 2 cents.

    (1) definitely NOT "wash dc AREA artists"....people will probably assume that anyway

    (2) to DC or not to DC? If anyone is confused...they'd figure it out soon enough...so go with your instinct

"100 Washington Artists" sounds a bit better than "100 Washington DC Artists"

and who would write a book about 100 Washington state artists? the same guy who wrote about 100 Idaho artists?

Also...since so many books now have subtitles on the cover you could even make the distinction there (e.g. "The best talent from Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia")...or elsewhere on the cover ( cover art, subtitle, blurb on back cover, etc ).

As long as people know which Washington you mean without opening the book I think you're OK
