Other than her race-change, now people are obsessing on Rachel Dolezal's artistic appropriation of the 1840 J.M.W. Turner painting into her work - artists
do that all the time... Picasso did it with Velasquez's "Las Meninas", and many other contemporary artists do that; no big deal.
