Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2009 Winner

Tonight the National Portrait Gallery announced the winner of the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2009 at the opening reception and the winner is photographer Dave Woody from Ft. Collins, CO. The exhibition will open to the public tomorrow Friday, Oct. 23 and will remain on view through August 22, 2010.

that's it?? but it's so uninspired! i mean, i suppose it's technically well done, but really... how utterly DULL.
i wonder what B.S. the artist wrote to justify such a boring photo.

i have seen the second place winner and he gota raw deal. his painting is inspired and was done with skill as well. these photos from the first place winner dont deserve first place. i often wonder if artist will continue to let non artist "scholars" decide what is sound art. they postulate that if it is purely conceptual in the sence that its nicely explained crap than it must be good. kudos to stanley rayfield, they owe you 25 grand.
