Mexican Emperor bit the dust in 1864
On this day in history, Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian, who had been made Emperor of Mexico by French Emperor Napoleon III in 1864, was whacked on the orders of Benito Juarez, the President of the Mexican Republic.

contemporary issues through a creative re-engineering of

The Central Intelligence Agency used American modern art - including the works of such artists as Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell, Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko - as a weapon in the Cold War.
