Yet more evidence why artists must have thick skins: for almost two decades I've been invited to participate in the Maryland Art Place annual fundraising show once called "Under $500" and now "Under $2500."
I've also sold well, selling work every single year... this year I was rejected... sigh... and then you move on and apply again next year!
