two of my paintings were 'stolen' from atromatic this year... small ones (priced at $20/each)... i make a living off the sale of my paintings, so it's really not cool to take them. if they were taken by "the collector", i don't want the bogus publicity, just give me the paintings back so i can let people that want them have them, and yes, i'd like to press charges :)

Hi Matt,

Hate to hear that... I had some of my work stolen from a gallery years ago... in a weird way I felt a little better when I thought that someone went to the extremes of committing a crime to steal my work.

thanks Lenny,
I am currently part of a multi-artist lawsuit against a gallery in Atlanta that walked off with thousands of proceeds from a show last year... so i'm a little 'sensitive' about giving paintings away for free...
although many people tell me my prices are so low, i'm practically giving them away! ;)

it was fun to fantasize that i was part of some sort of 'the collector' conspiracy... alas it seems that just some drunk kid pulled my work off the wall. and ya know what, in the grand scheme of things, that drunk kid is my collector base :)

Hi Lenny,
Alas, the Copycat Collector has neither style nor substance. I rather wish we hadn't opened the trunk, it ruined the mystery.

I'm very sad Matt's work was stolen and am equally glad he wasn't snared in a stunt of any kind. Hopefully whatever nonsense has been afoot is at an end and we can go into this last week of artomatic on a positive note.

You'll of course be among the first to know if we learn more or anything else transpires.

Artomatic is my favorite art venue and i have seen a lot of trickle down from showing there over the years... because somebody "saw" me at artomatic... shows, studio visitors, sales, etc...

for us indy-type painters, it's like the olympics... a bunch of art-athletes that still have that 'spark' and intrinsic drive... we do it because we have a feverish passion to create, it's fun, and we want to be around other like-minded folk.
