Glass Revolutionaries at Maurine Littleton
Michael Janis, Allegra Marquart, and Tim Tate will open at Maurine Littleton's power gallery in Georgetown with a rare opening reception to meet the artists on September 28, 5-7PM.
As far as I know, these are the first local DC area artists picked up by Littleton in the many years that her gallery has been in business and their subsequent national success represent an interesting example of what happens when a recognized power gallery in a particular field brings some attention to an emerging or mid career artist
The exhibition goes through October 18.

I attended the DC International Arts Fair this year. I also attended what I think was a fair by the same name 2 years ago. I was horribly disappointed this year. Both the quality and the quantity of art had dropped off precipitously from 2 years ago (if it was the same fair). Most of the art was uninspired, there were many empty booths, and there was an air of desperation from many of the artists (or galleries)present. I wrote the name of the fair down this year to make sure I don;t waste the gas or the entry fee to attend next year. I thought DC could do better.
